At their meeting on November 19, 2024 the Los Alamos County Council voted unanimously to approve contracts for a company called Bonfire to design, build and operate “a County-Owned Fiber-to-the-Premise Open Access Network”. Here is a link to the agenda. I will post a link to the minutes when the County publishes them. I believe the vote means that Bonfire will build the proposed network and thus constitutes success for this blog.
This morning I found this first email I wrote to the County Council about broadband thirteen years ago:

I hope that Los Alamos can build a broadband network that brings fiber to each address in the county. I attended the meeting at Fuller Lodge yesterday. Although I did not hear enough detail about the cost to know if I will support building the network, I am excited by the possibility.
Please let me know if I can do something to help.Sincerely,
